Selling vs Sorting


Convince a man against his will, and he will be of the same opinion still…

The most powerful words you can ever speak come from the mouth of a wise man, your prospect.

Whenever you want to marketing something to your target audience, consider the following example:

Who would you think is better at selling an idea, a 5 years old kid still sucking on his thumb or an experienced sales person?

You would think the sales person right? But when you truly understand prospecting, a 5 year old kid would be more effective at getting their idea across than a sales person.

Kids know how to sort rather than sell… they will find the right audience to promote to. The 5 year old will market to his mother knowing their father is not the right candidate.

Now at the opposite end, how many times have we banged our head against the wall and tried coming back to the same prospect hoping to have a different result? Or that we have gotten so good at closing everyone, that later on they don’t pick up our phone calls once their emotional state wears off.

I’ve been there. You’ve probably been there.

And if you haven’t yet, I’m going to show you how you never have to.

Selling is the art of persuasion. A lot of experienced closers can literally use emotional triggers to get someone to make a purchase on the spot. But what usually happens is it results in buyer remorse. Then what happens is your new rep will either try to get a refund or disappear all together.

Sorting is a process of systematically capturing, filtering, and sorting out the right prospects for your business.

You must have a system and a pipeline in place. Your system should be doing all the selling and sorting for you and all you should do is reach out to the qualified ones.

Think of a supreme water filter with 10 layers of filtering. What comes out from the other side when you pour a cup of water/ sand/ dirt mix through? Clear water comes through on the other side right? And all you do afterwards is reap the rewards.

So this is exactly how your system must work. Filter out the tire kickers and only talk to the action takers and people who want to actually do business. Simple right?

And the great thing about “new” technology now is that you can have online tools that will do all the filtering for you. Now that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do any work! But what it does mean, is that your business is much more efficient because of technology and you only need to spend time with the people that matter – interested customers.

Of course another key component to make the sorting process work is massive lead generation.
There are actually many options: blogs, pay-per-click, ezines, articles, postcards, direct mail, social networking… just to name a few.

Make sure you educate yourself with the basics first before you get into paid advertising. Otherwise you will lose a lot of money making mistakes you could have avoided, which we have already spoken about in earlier lessons.

Let the prospects convince you that they are serious. Most network marketers are taught to sell and convince other people how great their opportunity is or how amazing the compensation plan is, and even how wonderful the company is.

Real prospects are looking for leaders! Not companies or products. They’re actively looking to join a leader or a system that can help them make money.

The beautiful part is you don’t have to make a lot of money to be perceived as a leader. Which means you can attract enormous amounts of prospects to you too.

Now, the question you need to ask yourself is, why do you need a system if you want to run a successful business online?

Well, you need to think about how much time you are wasting. Are you speaking to the most qualified people who are already interested in joining your business? Or are you wasting time speaking to everyone?

When I first got started in this industry, my entire mindset was different. I was taught to just speak to as many people as humanly possible. It’s a numbers game right?

Well, yes and no.

You see, if you’re wasting time speaking to a ton of people who aren’t the “right” target audience, what have you done?

You have just spent all your valuable time on people who have a very low chance of joining your business when you could have been speaking to ONLY interested people.

Wasted time equals decreased sales and profits.

Now, if you’re spending more time with only the most qualified people who are very interested in what you have to offer, then all of a sudden, your sales jump up and your profits increase.

Without a marketing system to filter people, you will never get to the income levels that you are looking to be at. It’s just simply impossible.

Remember, all a successful business is, are systems and processes that work at a high efficiency.
